Brian Grant provides restructuring and business assistance to troubled companies and their creditors on financial, operational, and strategic issues. Mr. Grant has served clients in the context of Chapter 11 and Chapter 7 bankruptcies, out-of-court restructurings, loan workout situations, and various types of transactions including acquisitions, divestitures, and liquidations. Mr. Grant has served as an expert witness on numerous occasions in bankruptcy court in the context of corporate restructurings, and often speaks at events and conferences on general corporate renewal matters, as well as real estate restructurings.
Over the past several years Mr. Grant has been primarily focused on real estate workouts and has helped direct the build-up of resources and work experience for Conway MacKenzie in this area. Mr. Grant has represented both debtors and creditors in the residential and commercial real estate sectors, and has been involved with several high profile residential homebuilder bankruptcies.
Before joining Conway MacKenzie, Mr. Grant was with the Recovery & Reorganization Group of Grant Thornton, LLP, specializing in crisis management and corporate restructuring for the automotive industry, both in the United States and in Europe, where he represented a number of automotive companies, primarily Ford Motor Company. Prior to that, he was a Senior Analyst in the Restructuring and Performance Improvement Group at the consulting firm Stout Risius Ross, and an Analyst in the middle market commercial lending group of LaSalle Bank.
Mr. Grant is a Certified Turnaround Professional (D) and a member of the Turnaround Management Association and the American Bankruptcy Institute. He received his Bachelor of Science in Finance from the Eli Broad College of Business at Michigan State University.
