John T. Young, Jr.

Mr. Young oversees a suite of Houston-based services including transaction and transformation services, fiduciary services, restructuring advisory, interim management and litigation support. Mr. Young has extensive experience serving in interim leadership positions including those of Chief Restructuring Officer, Chief Executive Officer and Chief Financial Officer. Most of his interim management and advisory experience has involved Chapter 11 debtors and he has been qualified as an expert in restructuring in courtrooms across the country including Delaware.

Over the course of Mr. Young’s career, he has been involved in the restructuring of over $50 billion of debt and has significant experience in the energy, industrial services, retail and real estate sectors. While his experience in recent years has been dominated by the downturn in the energy space, over his career he has been involved in several notable non-energy matters.

Prior to his restructuring career, Mr. Young served with an international private equity fund generally known as Lone Star Funds. During his tenure at Lone Star Funds, he participated in the largest acquisitions and resolutions of troubled loans purchased from the Ministry of Finance and Economics during the Korean debt crisis. Mr. Young also held positions in the Asset Solutions practice of KPMG Peat Marwick, LLP.

  • Certified Insolvency and Restructuring Advisor (CIRA)
  • Certified in Financial Forensics (CFF) by the AICPA.

Mr. Young has served on the Global Board of Trustees of the Turnaround Management Association (“TMA”) and currently serves as a director of the National Certification Oversight Committee, the governing body of the TMA’s CTP program. Mr. Young is an Eagle Scout and is actively involved in greenspace initiatives including Trees for Houston and the Houston Arboretum.
