John Pencak is a Managing Director in our Transaction Services practice with over 20 years of financial advisory experience.
John specializes in cost management and performance optimization strategies, merger integration, and profitability and liquidity enhancement initiatives. John serves as an advisor to private equity investors, lenders and other capital providers, large multi-national corporations and privately-held, middle-market companies. His responsibilities have included acquisitions and divestitures, post-merger integration projects and performance improvement assignments for middle-market and multi-national companies.
Mr. Pencak is a Certified Public Accountant, Certified Insolvency & Restructuring Advisor, and Certified in Financial Forensics.
Prior to joining Conway MacKenzie, Mr. Pencak was a member of Grant Thornton’s Corporate Advisory Services practice where he led the firm’s Detroit based transaction services team.
John was also responsible for technical research on trends in global mergers and acquisitions activity and distressed transactions and has a deep understanding of the opportunities and challenges facing institutional and distressed investors.
Mr. Pencak has extensive experience in a wide range of industries including automotive, business services, energy, industrial manufacturing, metals and transportation and his geographic deal experience includes advising clients on transactions in Africa, Europe, North America and South America.
Prior to joining Grant Thornton, Mr. Pencak was a member of the Restructuring & Performance Improvement practice at Stout Risius Ross where he focused on providing advisory services to companies in distressed situations. Preceding his experience at Stout Risius Ross, John was in the Transaction Services practice at PricewaterhouseCoopers where he was responsible for planning and executing acquisition and divestiture related transaction services.
